MSC Cruise and STX France has announced yesterday morning (23/07/2010) the conclusion of the legal process that finalizes the order of a new cruise-ship, the MSC Fantastica. Sister-ship of the MSC Fantasia and MSC Splendida, delivered by St-Nazaire (France) in December 2008 and July 2009, the length of the new be will be 333 meters for a gross tonnage of 138.000. |

Compared to his elders, it will have to be adjusted some public spaces and will feature more cabins, 1751
total (cons 1637). The design of bridges and restaurants will be reviewed, while the MSC Yacht Club, private space upscale will be expanded. The ship will integrate, in addition, a new propulsion system and will have an additional transverse thruster to improve its maneuverability. Delivery of the "U32", as it is called in Saint-Nazaire, is expected in summer 2012 and will be the 12th ship of MSC. | |
The Libya's compagny General National Maritime Transport Company (GNMTC) confirmed on June 30th ordering a large cruise ship to the shipyards of STX France (St-Nazaire, France).
Derived units of the Fantasia class, built for MSC Cruises, the ship future display gauge 139 400 tons and measure 333 meters long and 38 meters wide. It will have 1,739 cabins for passengers and 732 cabins for the crew. After cutting the first sheet, expected this fall, delivering the "X32", whose cost is estimated at more than 500 million euros, due in December 2012.

The Nieuw Amsterdam, the new ship of Holland America Line, was christened on July 4th at Venice, by Princess Maxima of the Netherlands. The ship had been delivered by the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera July 2sd, 2010. Sistership of the Eurodam, which entered service in 2008, the Nieuw Amsterdam is 285 meters long with a tonnage of 87,000 tons. The ship has 1,053 cabins, a double base capacity of 2106 passengers. This summer it will operate from Venice for sailings 7 to 12 nights to Croatia, the Greek Islands and Turkey, and the Italian ports of the west coast. Next winter, the Nieuw Amsterdam will sail for the United States and propose, from Fort Lauderdale (Florida) 7-night cruises to the western and eastern Caribbean. |

On June, 17th 2010, the shipyards of STX Europe (St Nazaire, France) has delivered the Norwegian Epic.
The Norwegian Epic is the biggest cruise ship built at St Nazaire. It has a length of 329.45 meters for a width of 40.64 meters and a gauge of 153.000. After a passing by Rotterdam, it will arrive at Southampton on June 24th for the departure of it's first transatlantic cruise. It will arrive at New York on July 1st and will be christened next day. This summer and during this winter, the ship will operate in the Caraibes. On spring 2011, it will come back in Europe for several cruise in Mediterranean leaving from Barcelona. |
